The Feto-Maternal Outcome in Instrumental Assisted Vaginal Delivery in Parapokar Maternity and Woman Hospital—A Retrospective Study

Aim: To determine maternal and neonatal morbidities associated with instrumental vaginal delivery. Methods: This retrospective study consisted of 233 women undergoing deliveries from April 2020 to March 2021 at Paropakar Maternity Women Hospital, a tertiary care hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal. Neonatal complications were analyzed. Results: Of women, 102 (43.7%) 131 (56.2%) had vacuum forceps deliveries, respectively. The use instruments was more frequent infants higher birth weight gestational age. There no significant differences Apgar scores between the two groups. Two main indications fetal distress prolonged second stage labor. Forceps, compared vacuum, often caused 3rd/4th perineal tears, tear extending fornices, postpartum hemorrhage. outcomes similar both types deliveries. Conclusion: Instrumental delivery morbidity procedure/judgment training for it is essential.
